Chris Wheat Dies At Age 66

Among his many accomplishments, the longtime radio manager helped turn WFBQ-FM in Indianapolis into a powerhouse. The Indianapolis Business Journal reports that Wheat died last Friday. He managed WFBQ from 1984-2006. He also managed sports-talker WNDE-AM and alternative rock station WOLT-FM for Clear Channel. He retired in 2015.

Wheat left Clear Channel to work for Entercom in Norfolk but returned to Indianapolis a year later as GM for Cumulus. Then in 2012, he left Cumulus to become GM for Saga in Asheville, North Carolina.
