Radio’s “Big Bopper” Passes
Cumulus Media-Charleston confirms that legendary Charleston radio personality, Frankie Green, known on-air as "Frankie the Big Bopper," passed away Wednesday morning. A native Charlestonian, he was a much-loved fixture on the Low-country entertainment scene for more than 40 years.
NPR Voice Silenced
Carl Kasell, who was heard on National Public Radio programs for more than thirty years, died Tuesday from complications from Alzheimer’s disease. He was 84. Kasell joined NPR in 1975 as a part-time newscaster for “Weekend All Things Considered.” He was promoted to full-time newscaster on “Morning Edition” in 1979 where he worked until 2009.
Boston’s Amp Extends With TJ Show
The TJ Show, hosted by TJ Taormina, Loren Raye, and producer Matt Shearer, will remain on Boston’s 103.3 AMP Radio (WODS-FM) after both sides signed a multi-year contract extension. The show airs weekday mornings from 5:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET.
