Washington, D.C.’s WTOP was honored with five Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, Tuesday, by the Radio Television Digital News Association. The WTOP news team was recognized in the Overall Excellence category for the fifth time in the past seven years for its coverage in the D.C. region.

The Radio Television Digital News Association announced the winners of the 2016 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, and 11 CBS RADIO stations received a total of 25 of the awards.

Seattle’s KPLU reporters have garnered four 2016 Edward R. Murrow Awards from the RTNDA.

Steve Weed has been named Senior VP of Programming for Central California. Weed has been with iHeart since 2010 and will continue as Senior VP of the Fresno market. His experience includes past programming roles in New York City, Detroit, Seattle, and St. Louis. iHeartMedia Central California includes Fresno, Bakersfield, Modesto/Stockton, and Monterey.

Cumulus-owned KNBR in San Francisco has re-signed morning radio personalities Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey, co-hosts of The Murph and Mac Show on KNBR 680 San Francisco. The show will celebrate its 10th anniversary together on KNBR this year.

Todd Cavanah has been promoted to the newly created position of Vice President of Programming for CBS Radio Chicago. Cavanah most recently worked at WBBM-FM, where he began as an on-air personality in 1990, before being promoted to PD in 1993. Since 2011, he has also held a dual position as PD of WJMK-FM.

New KFOG morning host and respected rock jock Matt Pinfield has been selected to host a new two-hour weeknight show, 2Hours with Matt Pinfield. The show will launch the week of May 2.
