Despite 60 number one hits, Country superstar George Strait is ticked off at country radio. Strait says Country radio is kicking him to the curb because he's too old and his music does not fit into the current country format.

The new Newsfeed feature on NextRadio provides station-centric content, such as trending Tweets from the user’s favorite radio shows. Other content pushed by NextRadio Newsfeed is specific to the user’s favorite formats and includes artist and song facts, the day’s hottest song, and which artists are coming to town with the ability to buy tickets through Vivid Seats.

Data accumulated since 1966 shows that “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” written by ASCAP songwriters Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, and copyrighted in 1934, is the most-played holiday song of the last five decades.

Crain’s Detroit Business has named broadcast pioneer Fred Jacobs as one of Michigan’s “50 Names To Know In Information Technology.” Jacobs is known to many in the industry as the father of the Classic Rock format; and Jacobs Media has launched innovative research projects, like Techsurveys.

The Vacaville, CA, station raised $34,000 with their 13th Annual “Hope Begins with a Meal” radiothon on November 17. That translates to over 19,000 meals for the needy.

It's a newly created position for James VanOsdol in Chicago. He's now the Programming Content Specialist for WLUP and WKQX. VanOsdol will produce content that increases interaction with the social media channels for WLUP and WKQX. VanOsdol will continue to produce and host Demo 312, the weekly Chicago music show on 101 WKQX. VanOsdol will also continue as a part-time on-air personality on WLUP.
