WABC Fires Ron Kuby

That's what Kuby (right) posted to Facebook, and he said his release was to save money. Curtis Sliwa will apparently continue middays solo on WABC. We reached out to Cumulus and received the standard, "the company does not comment on personnel matters." This was to be Kuby's final year, he says, and he informed management in December. Three More For Bustos

Bustos Media has purchased three stations from Casa Media in Eastern Washington. The calls are KMNA-FM, KLES-FM, and KZXR-AM. Bustos will not begin operating the stations until the Bankruptcy Court and FCC grant approval. This would bring Bustos Media up to 20 stations.

New Spanish Top 40 Station For iHeart Austin TX

TU 103.1 (KVET-FM HD2) is now a (Spanish and English language) Spanish Contemporary format, kicked off with commercial-free music. iHeart is flipping the format on the translator from Alternative Rock. A full programming lineup will be announced at a later date.

The Very Distinguished Steve Fisher

Former long-time Entercom CFO Steve Fisher has been given the Distinguished CFO Award from the Media Financial Management Association. The award pays tribute to a CFO who has made outstanding contributions to the media industry. Fisher was Entercom's CFO from 1998 until his retirement last month.

Farneda New Music Director At WXRT Chicago

The CBS RADIO station names John Farneda  to the position he has been working in on an interim basis since early April. This marks a return to the station for Farneda who previously held the MD position at XRT for more than 13 years, from 2001-2014.

Madison Lands New Multi-Year Contract With SiriusXM

The national talker and human rights activist has signed a new multi-year contract with SiriusXM. Madison will continue to air daily on SiriusXM's Urban View channel 126, from 6 – 10 a.m. Details of the new deal were not disclosed.
