Alpha Goes “Old School” During Power Outage
When much of downtown Peoria encountered a massive power outage recently, the Alpha Media stations in Peoria had to act quickly to keep the community in the loop and stay on the air. WMBD went old school by broadcasting at the transmitter site.
Curtis Sliwa Arrested. A Stunt Gone Too Far?
The WABC New York talk host was arrested Tuesday morning outside of the Mayor’s residence, Gracie Mansion. Cumulus promoted the arrest in a press release, stating, "The arrest took place just after 8 a.m. while Sliwa, who also serves as the Reform Party chairman, was attempting to serve Mayor Bill De Blasio legal documents regarding the Working Families Party ballot line. It’s Back To Alaska For Baker
Ohana Media Group in Anchorage has hired Sandy Baker as Sales Manager for OMG’s South Central Alaska cluster. Baker spent the past year working in the freight industry and prior to that spent over 15 years with Morris Communications (now owned by Alpha Media) in Anchorage and Wasilla.

Consultant Randy Lane first heard sisters Serene and Pearl on a podcast and knew they had natural talent. They host a personality-driven show for music-formatted stations. The 7 p.m.-12 midnight program airs Monday through Friday, hosted by sisters Serene Allison and Pearl Barrett and co-host Danny Valdes.
Faller To Run Digital For Connoisseur
Robin Faller will take charge of all of Connoisseur's digital sales efforts after the company hired her this week. Connoisseur is purchasing the Connecticut operation of a digital company called Drive Local. Faller was an employee of that company. She will be based in the corporate office in Westport, CT.
Why Is GMR Targeting Pennsylvania Radio Stations?
According to the RMLC it's because the lawsuit filed in November 2016 was filed in Pennsylvania and the RMLC says GMR is taking that out on Pennsylvania radio stations by refusing to cut licensing deals with them. "GMR has been clear that it does not want to litigate this case in front of this court; it would prefer to litigate in its home court in Los Angeles."
Salem Promotes Tyler
Chuck Tyler is now the Director of Programming for all of Salem's Los Angeles stations, and Scott Valentine of The Fish morning show Scott & Sam also gets promoted to PD at The Fish in L.A.
RMLC Won A Similar Lawsuit Against SESAC.
Many of you will remember the 2012 lawsuit filed against SESAC for attempting to monopolize the market. SESAC was not subject to the same government consent decree as BMI and ASCAP. RMLC filed suit against the smaller PRO, which it was on the road to winning, before SESAC agreed to a 20-year deal with the radio industry.
NRG Media Brings Derrick To Omaha
NRG Media has named Matt Derrick to lead its Omaha FM Operations team. Derrick will oversee KQKQ Sweet 98.5, KOPW Power 106.9, and KOOO 101.9 The Keg. Prior to joining NRG Media, Derrick was a Regional Programming Manager and SVPP for iHeartMedia-Norfolk/Virginia Beach. He's also worked in Houston, San Francisco, and Tulsa.
