James Kauffman, who was arrested this week, accused of killing his wife April Kauffman (pictured), has been moved to a jail 100 miles away after prosecutors said in court Thursday his co-defendant planned to kill him. Authorities believe Kauffman and co-defendant Augello Ferdinand killed the talk-show host to protect an illegal drug run they were involved in with the Pagans biker gang. Kauffman says he’s not guilty of the murder.
For now, he’s been moved from the Atlantic County Jail in Mays Landing to the Hudson County Jail in Kearney, nearly 100 miles away. Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said. “We don’t think it would be prudent for those two to be lodged together.”
