Mid-West Family Broadcasting in Springfield is partnering with Sinclair Broadcasting's TV stations to raise funds and supplies for victims of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and the Gulf Coast region.

Beasley’s B103.9, 96KRock, and Sunny 106.3 will be partnering with the local chapter of the American Red Cross to collect donations during a special “MUSICTHON” to benefit those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Beginning at 6 a.m. the stations will broadcast live and stay on the air to play special song requests for donations.

Ruth Presslaff's e-mail marketing company has been purchased by Second Street, a company that provides private-label online audience engagement and interactive content platforms to media companies, including contesting, quizzes, ballots, polls, and e-mail communications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Presslaff is staying on with the new company. She is pictured here with Second Street co-founders Matt Coen (left) and Doug Villhard.

It was August 29, 1977 when Jim Kerr and Shelli Sonstein teamed up for what would become the top-rated morning show in New York City, The Jim Kerr Rock and Roll Morning Show. Kerr has been on-air for 50 years and the morning show host at WPLJ since he was 21. Fifteen years in he was joined by a 23-year-old Sonstein.

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association has honored Chapin with a “Legendary Nebraska Broadcaster” award. The award was conferred to Chapin by NBA Secretary-Treasurer Mark Jensen, past Chairperson Joy Patten, and President/Executive Director Jim Timm.

The Jason Rantz Show kicks off on the Seattle conservative talk station September 5 and will air weekdays from 6-9 a.m. For the past four years, Rantz could be heard on Seattle’s KIRO-FM. Rantz has appeared on FOX News, NBC Nightly News, and KIRO, KING, and KOMO television.

WBSM.com/New Bedford, MA is reporting the passing of local radio legend Stan Lipp who died Monday in Florida at 89. Lipp hosted the popular WBSM talk show Open Line from 1964 to 2001. He was also very involved in the community, hosting annual drives such as “Quarters for Christmas,” which would raise money to help out families in need during the holidays.
