Two Florida Pirates Get Snagged

It's a $15,000 fine for Wilner Lundi for operating an unlicensed station on 91.5 and 104.7 MHz in Lake Worth, Florida. The Commission says Lundi operated unauthorized stations three times in 2015. Vilnord Simon also gets nailed with a $15,000 penalty for his pirate station at 103.1 in North Miami. Simon was also caught three times in 2015 and 2016. ASCAP, BMI Try to Make Life Easier

One of the biggest criticisms of the two performing rights organizations is that it's nearly impossible to know exactly who wrote, co-wrote, or has ownership of specific works. This joint announcement is another step toward more transparency, which both ASCAP and BMI have declared is one of their goals.

KSCO Santa Cruz Losing $40K Per Month

And the for-profit FM is now asking the community for donations. According to The Santa Cruz Sentinel the 70-year-old station is turning to its listeners for support. In a station promo, owner Michael Zweling says, “KSCO has been my primary philanthropic project for over two decades and I could use some help. If you like KSCO and want to help it survive and thrive, send money. Anything at all will help.”

The Return of Charlie Pallilo

20-year sports talk veteran Charlie Pallilo has been hired by Gow Media in Houston. Starting August 21, Pallilo will host a weekday show on SB Nation 1560-AM from 11 am-1 pm. Pallilo was hired by iHeart's sports-talker KBME-AM in 2004. He was fired last October when iHeart brought in former KILT-AM Houston host Josh Innes when he was let go in Philadelphia.

CBS Programming Realignment In L.A.

Kevin Weatherly will drop his PD duties at 97.1 AMP as Chris Ebbott (pictured) takes over that role. Ebbott is also PD of K-EARTH. CBS Radio says this will allow Weatherly to focus more on the strategic direction of the market’s music formats.

iheart Promotes Two In The Big Apple

Both promotions are at Hip Hop station Power 105.1 FM. Eddie Fennel (left) is promoted to APD after serving as executive producer of The Breakfast Club. DJ Prostyle moves into the music director's chair and will continue as the midday host. Prostyle has been on the air at Power for more than six years. He also worked as resident DJ on BET’s 106 & Park.

It's a newly created position for Burke and she will now work with local businesses to create fully integrated marketing solutions across e-mail, social, Web, mobile, radio, streaming radio, and podcasts.

McGee To Spearhead Development At WWOZ

WWOZ/New Orleans has hired Marcel McGee to lead the station's development efforts. He starts August 1. McGee has two decades of experience in donor relations and fundraising with a variety of institutions, including Loyola University New Orleans, Dillard University, the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations and The American Red Cross-Southeast Louisiana Chapter.
