Saga’s Pam Dixon Dies at 59
Dixon was the morning show co-host on KIOA in Des Moines. The station posted this message on its website Friday: "Earlier today, we lost our precious friend and coworker – and your beloved morning radio friend. For the last decade, she battled cancer with the most amazing courage and spirit. Eventually, her physical form was no match for the disease, but her will to live a rich life – filled with fun and laughter, never yielded."
Texans’ Switch Spanish Stations
The NFL’s Houston Texans have signed a multi-year deal with Mega 101 FM, making it the new home for the team’s Spanish radio broadcasts on game days. The Texans are one of only seven NFL teams to broadcast in Spanish on the FM frequency
Bob And Sheri Extend Their Charlotte Link
The morning team of Bob Lacey and Sheri Lynch have signed a new contract with The Link 107.9, “Charlotte’s Best Mix.” The 5.30 a.m. to 10.00 a.m. show is currently syndicated in 40 markets across the nation. Bob and Sheri have been nominated for nine Marconi Awards, and Sheri is the recipient of six Gracie Awards, presented by The Alliance for Women in Media.
New APD/Afternoon Host At 96.9 The Kat
The Charlotte New Country station has named JT Bosch to the dual positions, effective August 14. Bosch will host weekdays from 2-7 p.m. He most recently served as Assistant Program Director and night host for 98.7 WMZQ in Washington, D.C. He has also handled both on-air and programming duties with stations in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
Latest Triton Ranker Shows Listener Growth
Triton's May ranker is in and it states that total listening for all publishers showed positive listening gains when compared to May 2016, with an 11.22% increase in Average Active Sessions M-F 6AM-8PM and a 13.46% increase M-SUN 6AM to Midnight. Dubuque’s Mike Callaghan Dies at age 60
Callaghan hosted the KAT-FM morning show with Lisa Bennett for the last seven years. He was part of the Dubuque radio landscape for over 40. KAT-FM reported Callaghan died Thursday from complications of lung and pancreatic cancer. In September, doctors determined Callaghan had an aggressive form of lung cancer. He leaves behind his wife, three daughters, and three grandchildren.
Wittyngham Joins Dolphins Broadcasts
Miami’s Sportsradio 560 WQAM has hired Chris Wittyngham as the pre-game co-host for Dolphins broadcasts. Wittyngham will work with former Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder as host of Dolphins Gameday on WQAM, KISS 99.9, and the Dolphins Radio Network. Wittyngham currently works for CBSSports.com as a host on their digital channels.
SummitMedia Prepares To Expand
On Thursday, SummitMedia announced that shareholder and private investor Jon Kelly reached an agreement to purchase the controlling interest in the company held by Highpoint Holdings. And with Highpoint Holdings no longer in the picture, and Kelly and CEO Carl Parmer the two main players in the company, you can certainly expect to see them grow Summit, when stations that fit into their game plan become available.
