Dick Broadcasting Buys Three Alpha Markets

Dick Broadcasting is expanding its footprint from two stations in Greensboro-Winston-Salem, NC, to 20 stations across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. The Alpha markets Dick Broadcasting is picking up are: Greenville/New-Bern, Myrtle Beach and Savannah/Hilton Head. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Thomas Signs Contract Renewal With CBS Radio

Veteran programmer Mike Thomas has signed a multi-year extension with the company. He will continue in his multi-platform role as Vice President of Sports Programming for CBS Radio and Vice President of Programming for CBS Radio Boston. Thomas has nearly 20 years of top management experience as a radio program director.

Entercom’s “I’m Listening” Campaign

On Tuesday the company launched the “I’m Listening” campaign for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. A two-hour on-air special that will be broadcast live from Seattle on World Suicide Prevention Day, Sunday, September 10 across all Entercom platforms.

Adams Radio has launched a new Active Rock radio station “103.3 The Fort.” The name fits nicely since it is located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The station launched at midnight on September 6.

iHeartMedia New Orleans has debuted 104.1 The Spot, “We Play Anything.” The station will broadcast top hits from the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, including songs from artists like Madonna, Boston, Bon Jovi, and Duran Duran. The station celebrated Labor Day Weekend with three and a half days of commercial-free music.

Salem Media Group has acquired Richard Young’s Intelligence Report. After more than 25 years writing the newsletter, Young is retiring from the newsletter industry. Jim Woods, noted author, financial writer, and newsletter editor, will be the new editor.
