(By Bob McCurdy) There was an interesting article last week titled "P&G's Pritchard: Seize Back Control of Data, Reinvent Marketing and Stop 'Annoying the Hell Out of People,'" that touched on a subject we’ve previously addressed: the impact of heavy and light users of any medium or station and the number of times each are exposed to a message.

Women are the equal of men as broadcasters and they are gradually making up the gender gap in radio hosts. But some myths persist. So let's explode them right here and now.

And it all takes place at Emerson College in Boston. The Beasley Radio Talent Institute of the National Radio Talent System is designed as a talent incubator for aspiring broadcasters. It’s ten days long and includes everything about radio from on-air in music radio, sports, news, production, promotions, engineering, digital and social media and sales.

The fan-voted 2018 CMT Music Awards will be simulcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, June 6, at 8 p.m. ET/PT. The live radio broadcast of the Awards telecast will air on more than 120 iHeartCountry music radio stations.

Corey Calhoun has been named the new night on-air personality and Music Director for Country station 98.7 WMZQ/Washington, DC, effective June 4. Calhoun will broadcast weeknights, 7 p.m.–12 a.m.

As part of its new multi-year agreement with KNBR-AM, The San Francisco Giants will become the first Major League Baseball team to offer free, in-market live streaming of its radio broadcasts. The live stream will be delivered by TuneIn.

Megan Holiday is back at KITS-FM. Holiday will be the midday host of the Bay Area’s Alternative ALT 105.3, effective June 4. She was most recently the evening host of Entercom’s KROQ in Los Angeles.

Mike Novak, CEO of Educational Media Foundation, announced Friday he will retire as CEO of the ministry that operates the K-LOVE and Air1 radio networks in the coming months. Novak and EMF’s Board of Directors say they have been working closely the past couple of years on the timing of his retirement.

According to Spanish Broadcasting System, Nielsen notified the company earlier this week that big changes were being made regarding the weighting of Hispanic listeners in the Los Angeles market. The company says the changes - the removal of 4 panelists - will have a drastic impact on its ratings. SBS General Counsel Richard Lara called Nielsen's changes "unfair and discriminatory," and said the ratings firm was attacking U.S.- based Hispanics.
