The NAB Crystal Radio Awards are bestowed upon stations that provide their communities with outstanding service. Over the past month, Radio Ink has highlighted many of those stations, and we encourage them all to submit a nomination for this award. Winners are announced at the We Are Broadcasters Celebration, held April 10 during the NAB Show in Vegas. Submit HERE. Finalists will be announced next month.

2017 Auto Sales Top 17 Million Again

And that's the third consecutive year over 17 million vehicles were sold in the U.S. Even though there was a slight dip in sales, compared to 2016, it was still a strong year for radio's number one advertising category.

Kay Downloads On Francessa

ESPN New York afternoon host Michael Kay is not praising Mike Francesa for his 30-year run on WFAN. On his show, Kay said, “We don’t have to pay homage to competition that never really was nice to us." Kay and Francesa had battled for years over who was winning in the ratings. There's another reason Kay will not show Francesa any respect.

Flood Communications has named former NRG Market Manager Andy Ruback its next CEO. Flood owns 15 radio and television stations in Nebraska. Ruback began his career as an AE before moving on to management positions with Clear Channel and City Weekly. Most recently, he served as Market Manager for NRG Media in Omaha.

CBS News Radio has signed new affiliation agreements with Entercom, Alpha, and Saga. With these new deals, CBS News Radio is now delivering content to more than 450 news, talk, and music stations.

iHeart Adds Harris To The KFYI Team

James Harris has been named afternoon host for News station 550 KFYI-AM in Phoenix. PD Aaron Trimmer said, “As the ringleader of the Conservative Circus, James brings a unique perspective and unrivaled enthusiasm for talk radio to 550 KFYI. We’re thrilled to add his voice to the station weekday afternoons.” Harris previously worked as afternoon host for KQTH-AM in Tucson.
