Beasley Detroit Steps Up At “Wigs 4 Kids”
Beasley’s Detroit cluster, including 105.1 The Bounce, WRIF-FM, and WCSX-FM, recently volunteered at the Wigs 4 Kids event at the 2018 Michigan International Women’s Show. The program helps children, three through 18, experiencing hair loss as a result of illness or treatment.
Community Broadcasters Promotes Two In Florida
The company has announced that Wes Styles has been named Operations Manager for its Florida cluster, and Mary Jo Gruber is the new Program Director of Q92 WECQ. Styles was brought in as Program Director of 103.1 The Blaze and 102.1 The Wave in Destin-Fort Walton Beach.
Tino Cochino Picks Up 25th Affiliate
Tino Cochino Radio has signed its 25th affiliate, KWTX-FM (97.5FM), iHeartMedia’s Top 40 station in Waco-Killeen, TX. The show airs weeknights 7-11 p.m.
Cumulus Reports Flat Q1 Revenue
As the Cumulus bankruptcy case winds its way through its final stages, the company reported revenue for the first quarter of 2018. Net revenue was $263.7 million, down 0.1% from Q1 2017. Net revenue from Cumulus radio stations was $168.2 million, a decline of 3.1% from $173.6 million in 2017. Westwood One revenue was $94.8 million, an increase of 5.5% over 2017.
Feds Seize Manhattan Pirate’s Equipment
The crackdown on pirate radio stations continues. FCC agents, in coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Marshals Service, seized radio equipment from Rumba FM, operating illegally at 95.3 in Manhattan.
Audioboom Triton Deal is Off
Audioboom is in trouble. Back in February it was announced that Audioboom would be purchasing Triton Digital Canada, the parent company of Triton Digital for $185 million in a reverse takeover. Due to insufficient funds that deal is off and Audioboom is in jeopardy of shutting down.
Two New Hires For Skyview
Skyview Networks is bringing on Jenna Herhold and Mark Frank as Network Audio Sales Managers. Herhold will be responsible for cultivating agency relationships in Chicago and leading the company’s newly opened office there. Frank will be responsible for managing accounts in the midwestern and southern regions, while heading Skyview's new Atlanta sales office.
WGN Moves To New, State-Of-The-Art Digs
WGN Radio announced that it will move its studios and offices to the 18th floor of 303 E. Wacker from the Tribune Tower at 435 N. Michigan. The first official broadcast from the new studios will happen in June.
