Pandora Paid Subscriptions Are Up

And that's good news for the streaming pure-play. The company now has about six million paid subscribers after 351,000 were added over the past three months. And, more paid subscribers equals more subscription revenue.

Pandora Advertising Revenue Drops

It was a $7 million decline in ad revenue for Pandora in Q2. Advertising revenue in April, May, and June was $271 million compared to $278 million a year earlier. For the first six months of the year, advertising revenue is down $15 million, from $501.5 million in 2017 to $485.6 million this year.

New Deal For Entercom, SacState

Entercom has signed a new multi-year broadcast deal with Sacramento State University. ESPN 1320 (KIFM-AM/Sacramento) will broadcast all of the football and men’s basketball games. The partnership is effective at the start of the 2018-19 season and will run through the 2020-21 collegiate season.  

Sutter Appointed to Commission Post

Chairman Ajit Pai has appointed ShootingStar Broadcasting President Diane Sutter Chair of the FCC's Advisory Committee on Diversity and Digital Empowerment. Pai said Sutter is well known in the broadcast industry for her thought leadership on a range of issues pertaining to financing, ownership, and management training.

Calton Chalks Up 25 Years At WMGK/Philadelphia

Debbi Calton is celebrating her 25th year on the midday shift (9a-2p) at Philadelphia’s Classic Rock station, 102.9 WMGK-FM. The station will mark the special occasion on Friday, August 17 with a live broadcast with Andre Gardner.

iHeart Shows Bobby Bones More Love

Bones hosts The Bobby Bones Morning Show and Country Top 30 for iHeart through Premiere. He'll continue with those two shows as well as his podcast BobbyCast. As part of the agreement, Bones will become VP/Creative Director of iHeartCountry and will work with iHeart on a variety of joint ventures and new programming initiatives.

New Host For Southern Gospel Countdown Show

Salem Media Group has brought in Southern Gospel on-air personality Rodney Baucom to be the new host as the Singing News Radio Network expands its weekly Top 10 countdown show to a Top 20 Countdown. Baucom replaces Jeff Steele, the three-year host of the current program.
