(By Bob McCurdy) I ran into a New York ad agency CEO at the airport last week on my way to the Radio Show. Coincidentally, he was on his way to Orlando to meet with a client. As the weather would have it, we were delayed four hours and had plenty of time to discuss radio and advertising. Clearly, there are still some ghosts in the system.

(By Ed Ryan) Every year at The Radio Show I run into Warren "Koz" Kozireski. He runs the radio station at the State University of New York at Brockport, the station I first worked at and eventually ran as a student manager.

Five thousand pounds of essential items are on their way to Fayettville, NC, from Beasley Augusta. The goods fill a 26-foot box truck.

The 2019 Conclave Summer Learning Conference will be held on June 19th -21st, 2019, at its new location, Delta Hotels Minneapolis Northeast. The 2019 event will celebrate 44 years of educating radio broadcasters next summer.

In Philadelphia, Blaise Howard has been hired as GSM at WBEB-FM. Howard spent 18 years as the VP/GM of WBEB-FM. Prior to WBEB, he was chosen by Group W Radio to launch KPIX, their first FM News Talk station in San Francisco. WBEB is now owned by Entercom.

In a presentation called Miles Different: In-Car Audio, Edison Research President Larry Rosin told Radio Show attendees that the automobile is as important as ever for the audio space and radio is still king in that space.

Among the winners up on stage at the 2018 Radio Show in Orlando were representatives from WMMR in Philadelphia for Rock Station of the year, KRTH-FM in Los Angeles for Classic Hits Station of the Year, and KKBQ Houston for Legendary Station of the year. Here's a list of all the winners.

Seattle Hip Hop station KUBE 93.3 announced today the debut of The Wake Up Show, effective October 1. The Wake Up Show will broadcast weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

WHAV/Haverhill, MA, has added three marketing veterans with local roots. Marketing and radio veterans Win Damon, Cheryl Soriano, and Paul Ryan are responsible for raising donations from corporate sponsors and local businesses for nonprofit radio station, 97.9 WHAV FM.
