Max Wycisk Retiring After 40 years

Wycisk, the president of Colorado Public Radio, has announced he will retire on June 30, 2018, after more than four decades with CPR, first as an on-air announcer and then program director before becoming president in 1978.

Macy’s Make Its Move

Jumping from 30th to 4th on the Media Monitors weekly spot chart, Macy's aired 27,584 commercials on radio stations all across the country last week. The Home Depot was back in the top spot (50,810) after spending a week at number five. GEICO was second (42,474), followed by JC Penney (32,900). Rounding out the top five was McDonald's (27,014).

Joyner Working Hard For Hurricane Victims

Tom Joyner has been doing his bit for the folks hit by the recent hurricanes. The nationally syndicated radio host just distributed $50,000 to 50 Houston-area families affected by Hurricane Harvey. To date, Joyner has raised $500,000 for the BlackAmericaWeb.com Relief Fund.

WDVE 102.5 Rocks For Children’s Radiothon

The “Home of the Pittsburgh Steelers” raised over $814,000 during the 10th annual DVE Rocks for Children’s Radiothon to benefit Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation. Over the past 10 years, the radiothon has raised nearly $5 million to benefit the hospital.

WSOY Collects 1.5 Million Pounds of Food!

The Decatur, IL, station held its annual WSOY Community Food Drive on October 6 and made the massive haul. The proceeds from the food drive benefit local food pantries in the Decatur area, including the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities, among others.

Elvis Duran will be in Los Angeles for The 3rd Annual Carney Awards on Sunday, October 29 and is welcoming all friends in radio to attend. The event, which Duran co-created, honors character actors. This year William Macy, Wendie Malick, William Fichtner, Richard Kind and Xander Berkeley are honorees. ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” host Tom Bergeron is hosting.
