Everyone wants to see radio not just growing again in 2017, they want to see revenue growing at a very decent clip. Radio executives don’t want to buy into the statement that “Flat is the new normal” — they are not OK with that. So how do radio stations around the country get revenue jumping again?

(By Michael Dudding) Small-market radio success is very attainable when you decide your station is going to be the best. If you can use just one or two of these ideas to help your small-market station grow, then I’ve accomplished my goal.

The results are now in, and Donald Trump has won the presidency in a stunning upset, confounding most pollsters and a lot of mainstream media pundits. Among the few who saw this coming was Sean Hannity. And we have him for Forecast 2017!

Sun Broadcast Group and Dave Scott’s RadioTraffic.com have extended their network ad sales agreement. Sun has been providing national ad sales support to radiotraffic.com since 2015. The extension announced today will include the network’s 2017 and 2018 sales seasons.

Motor Racing Network’s Radio Advisory Council met this year in Kansas City to discuss growth opportunities for the network and its radio partners. The council, consisting of a rotating panel of 12 radio partners, was conceived in 2013 to encourage improved communications between the network and radio stations, and to exchange ideas to promote audience and revenue growth for NASCAR radio content.

Classic Rock station PYX 106, (Albany, NY), will hold its fourth annual "Vets Rock" broadcast on Veterans Day, featuring 10 local military service men and women. After auditions were conducted, the vets were selected to host the station’s programming and conversation topics for a day.

News doesn’t get much better than this. KIRO Radio 97.3 FM’s Ron & Don show, the Seattle Police Department (with the support of the Seattle Police Foundation), and Sleep Train will provide 300 beds to children in need through the 2016 “Beds for Kids Project.”

What do you get when 600 people come together for a Thanksgiving meal? In Des Moines, you get donations for the needy and a shot at a Guinness world record. On November 6, the good people from Cumulus-Des Moines brought together the 600 for a fun attempt at a world record, and to raise awareness for the needy as Thanksgiving approaches.

Already you hear and read about the possibility that Commissioner Ajit Pai could take over as Chairman after Thomas Wheeler leaves his post. And Pai has been extremely friendly to radio.

In his latest blog, Tracy Johnson Media Group founder Tracy Johnson says, love him or hate him, Donald Trump is the winner. And Johnson believes there are lessons that can be learned from the Trump victory on Tuesday and incorporated into a radio show.
