iHeartMedia San Antonio debuted 96.1 NOW in San Antonio over the holiday weekend. The format is Hit Music and kicked off with a full weekend of commercial-free music. The format includes artists such as Justin Bieber, The Chainsmokers, Ed Sheeran, and Bruno Mars. The local lineup of jocks will stay as is.

The 24-hour business and radio station, in conjunction with Beasley Media Group, announced that over the holiday weekend Bloomberg Radio was being heard on Beasley's 106.1FM, WRCA 1330 AM, and 92.9/WBOS-FM HD2. Bloomberg Radio will continue to broadcast on WXKS 1200AM/94.5FM-HD2 for the next few months.

Alpha Media, West Palm Beach, changed WMEN from Fox Sports 640 to 640 The Hurricane over the holiday weekend. The station will still be an all-sports Fox affiliate, but the station now says it will "carry more edge and attitude."

That’s according to the independent analysts at Great Place to Work® who made it official with their certification. And they came to the decision thanks to the Salem Media Group employees themselves who provided their ratings in anonymous surveys.

More from the Ryvicker note where she states that there are concerns with the integration given "CBS Radio's underperformance." She writes, "CBS Radio's underperformance vs. the industry and Entercom seems to have resulted from poor management vs. station portfolio or brand." And she believes Entercom can turn that around within 12 months.

In a 10K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, former Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey provided more detail about his upcoming plans with his company Modern Media Acquisition. The company launched an IPO in May and banked $207 Million. It's expected Dickey will use that money, at some point, to purchase some sort of media company which may, or may not, involve radio. The Commission went on an East Coast pirate hunt and turned up the heat on four homeowners and one church, Thursday, giving them 10 days to explain why they are operating illegal radio stations. Florida and Massachusetts appear to be a nice little settling ground for pirates. How the church pastor responded to the FCC about the station will surely make you chuckle.

KDKA midday talker Mike Pintek announced on his show Thursday that he has inoperable pancreatic cancer. Pintek said the cancer has spread to his liver and possibly to other areas of his body. While the cancer is not operable now, doctors hope chemotherapy will shrink the tumor enough to make it operable. You can listen to his statement HERE.
