Last year the auto industry sold more vehicles than any year in the history of the industry. Automotive has consistently been one of radio's biggest and best advertiser. The final number of vehicles sold in the United States was 17.47 million, surpassing the prior record of 17.35 million from 2000.

Innovation Begins Today in Las Vegas

All tech eyes will be on Las Vegas today as the annual Consumer Electronics Show opens. The event has become known for hatching new technologies and tech products. Jim Barry is the Media Spokesman for the Consumer Technology Association, which represents more than 2000 consumer technology companies and owns and produces CES. Greater Media's Buzz Knight, who's covering CES for Radio Ink spoke with Barry about what he expects to see from the floor this year.

The L.A. Daily News reports all-sports KFWB-AM will end operations as an all-sports station in mid-February after the station’s asset trust sold the business to a group that runs foreign-language programming. The staff was told about the sale at a meeting Tuesday.

Media Monitors has released its 2015 list of radio's top advertisers and The Home Depot is number one for the second year in a row. The big box home improvement store aired over 2.3 million commercials on radio stations across America in 2015. The only other company to air over 2 million spots was second placed GEICO. The NAB is now accepting entries for the 2016 NAB Crystal Radio Awards. Since 1987 The Crystal's have been honoring stations that perform outstanding community service. 50 finalists are chosen and there are 10 winners. Entry submissions must be received by January 29. Winners are announced at the NAB Show Radio Luncheon, held Tuesday, April 19 in Las Vegas.

On Tuesday, SiriusXM announced it ended 2015 with 29.6 million subscribers. That's 2.3 million more subscribers than the company finished with at the end of 2014. The company had projected 2 million new subs.
