The Mentoring & Inspiring Women in Radio Group and Nielsen are now accepting applications for the 2nd Annual MIW-Nielsen Music Mentoring Program. The deadline for submitting completed applications is August 10,  2018. The winner will be announced at the 2018 Radio Show in Orlando on September 26, 2018.

Hartford’s 97.9 ESPN has announced the UConn IMG Radio Network Broadcast Team, effective August 1. The team will include Bob Joyce, Executive Producer and voice of UConn Women’s Basketball, and Mike Crispino, five-time Emmy-winning broadcaster, as the play-by-play voice of UConn Football and Men’s Basketball.

That's according to the latest piece of data released from Borrell & Associates. Traditional advertising such as newspapers, direct mail, radio and yellow pages remain strong with local advertisers. Despite being plagued by fraud, bots and fake users, Social Media remains highest on the list, used by 78% of the 2,212 businesses polled by Borrell.

Thanks to the "New York Market Radio Broadcasters Association 2nd Quarter Market Report," a ton of data is now available for broadcasters and advertisers as the busy back-to-school season of ad-spending nears.

(By Dan Sileo) As many of you probably know by now, I’ve switched radio companies in the past six months — although you’ll still find me broadcasting in sunny San Diego. I’ve departed The Mighty 1090 and am now with Entercom Communications, and I couldn’t be happier — this is a fantastic organization. 

This past week was Rincon Broadcasting’s 8th annual Radiothon, and Radio Bronco 107.7 (KIST) and La Musical 94.5 (KSPE) surpassed last year’s total by more than 21%. The final total was a whopping $95,735. With donations still coming in, this year’s radiothon may yet break the $100,000 mark.

YEA Networks announced that Simple Booth, its next-generation platform for one-touch social sharing of live events through digital photo booth experiences, has hit the 400-radio-station mark with the recent addition of Saga Communications’ six-station radio group in Charleston, SC and additional units in multiple markets.

We'll find out on September 27 at The Radio Show in Orlando. On Monday, The National Association of Broadcasters announced the finalists. Fighting it out for legendary station of the year will be KKBQ-FM in Houston, KOA-AM in Denver, WBAP-AM, Dallas, WHIO-AM, Dayton and WOKV FM, Jacksonville. Here are all the 2018 Marconi finalists...

Monday was a big day for the hosts at Boston’s sports station WBZ-FM The Sports Hub. The new Beasley station, picked up from CBS as part of the Entercom/CBS merger, began broadcasting from the station’s brand new state of the art studios in Dorchester, MA.

William Puig of Homestead, Florida is accused of operating an illegal radio station from a commercial property on 92.1-FM and a company called Rockaway154 is accused of operating a pirate station from a residential property on Rockaway Parkway in Brooklyn at 93.7-FM.
