Scott Masteller is stepping away from the programming chair at 97.5 The Fanatic (WPEN) in Philadelphia at the year’s end. His retirement caps a career that included stops at ESPN Radio and WBAL NewsRadio in Baltimore before he joined Beasley three years ago.
Masteller previously spent 13 years with ESPN, including roles as program director of ESPN Radio in Dallas-Fort Worth and senior director of content at the network’s Bristol, CT, headquarters. Before joining The Fanatic, he spent seven years as program director of WBAL NewsRadio in Baltimore, where he also built and managed radio networks for the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens and Navy football. He also had additional stops in Portland, OR; Salt Lake City; and Lexington, KY.
The departure adds to a string of retirements across Beasley this year.
In May, Rick Thomas left the company’s Tampa cluster after three years overseeing programming there, following a series of departures tied to an early-retirement offering Beasley extended during its Q1 earnings call. In September, Charlotte’s Jack Daniel and Mac Edwards also announced retirements, closing out 54-year and 35-year careers with the company, respectively.
