Beyond the Book: What Radio’s Top PDs Are Bragging About

Ask a successful program director what they’re proud of, and you may expect it to be the ratings book, but it turns out that what comes up instead is people: the ones who showed up, raised the money, earned the awards, and in some cases, changed entire communities.

In our upcoming August issue, Radio Ink asked the Most Successful Program Directors in America what they’d most like to brag on. Here’s a sampling of what they told us:

“I am not the first PD to say this about their team: this is the best air staff in America. The most resilient, creative, hard-working team in the business, and they’ve earned every accolade and ratings win they’ve gotten. Our team never loses focus, comes to work every day with the right attitude, and continues to win by whatever metric is being used to measure such things.”

“We recently won two national broadcasting honors for our work with a local children’s hospital on our annual fundraising event, which raised $2.3 million last year. It’s a true labor of love for our entire team. Our goal every year is simply to raise one more dollar than we did the year before.”

“I’m proud of a longtime member of our team who retires this year after an incredible 38-year career. She has set the standard for professionalism, authenticity, and serving her community, and watching her continue to mentor others while leaving such a lasting legacy has been inspiring.”
