Before they are honored by the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation as Giants of Broadcasting, Suzyn Waldman and David Donovan sat down with Benztown President and LABF co-chair Dave “Chachi” Denes for two new episodes of Chachi Loves Everybody.
Benztown has released two new episodes of Chachi Loves Everybody, the original podcast hosted by Benztown President Dave “Chachi” Denes.
In the first episode, Waldman traces her path from the Broadway stage to the Yankees radio booth, including her early life in Boston, the 1987 launch of WFAN-AM as the country’s first all-sports station, and becoming the first woman to call a World Series game. She also discusses surviving breast cancer and her broadcast partnership with the late John Sterling.
This year marks Waldman’s 40th year covering or broadcasting the Yankees and her 22nd season as the team’s radio color commentator. She was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2022 and appeared on Radio Ink’s Most Influential Women in Radio list for 12 consecutive years.
In the second episode, Donovan discusses his path from real estate law to broadcast regulation, first at the FCC and later as president of the Association for Maximum Service Television during the industry’s digital transition. He also covers his work fighting pirate radio interference and his role leading the New York State Broadcasters Association.
Both Waldman and Donovan will be honored as Giants of Broadcasting by the Library of American Broadcasting Foundation, which unveiled its full 2026 class in March. The luncheon and awards ceremony is set for November 17 at Gotham Hall in New York City.
