Morning drive at Audacy New York’s Classic Hits 101.1 CBS-FM (WCBS) is open again. Race Taylor told listeners Friday that he is leaving the station’s wake-up shift, ending a run in the chair that began just last year, and no successor has been named.
Taylor joined CBS-FM as midday host in July 2019, weeks after presiding over the final broadcast of 95.5 PLJ (WPLJ), where he spent nearly two decades. In July 2024, Audacy extended his contract as he marked 25 years on the air in New York. In June 2025, Taylor moved from middays to mornings as part of a lineup shuffle that sent Brand Manager John Foxx to afternoons and Music Director Jesse Addy to middays.
Before arriving in New York, Taylor spent nearly a decade at Q102 (WKRQ) in Cincinnati and several years at The New Mix 102.9 (KDMX) in Dallas.
On social media, he said, “Sometimes you’re not quite ready to turn the page when a chapter comes to an end, but here we are. They say it takes a year for you to fall in love with NYC, but once it happens, you never let go. So very true. If you missed it, this is the announcement from this morning. We’ve been through so much together. I hope in the weeks ahead a new opportunity presents itself, but until then… thank you for listening.”
