After nearly ten years behind the mic at Classical California KDFC, midday host Robin Pressman will retire on July 31. The veteran broadcaster and programmer has been a familiar voice for listeners across Northern California since joining the station in 2014.

She joined the launch team at Sonoma County NPR affiliate Northern California Public Media (KRCB) as a volunteer, where she soon created a five-hour Saturday folk music program that quickly gained a following. Within a year, she was named Program Director, which ultimately led to her recruitment by Classical California KDFC President Bill Lueth.

Before radio, she worked in documentary film production with her husband, director Peter Cooper, in both New York and Los Angeles.

Following her departure, Classical California KUSC’s Brian Lauritzen will step into the weekday shift beginning August 1.

Pressman said, “Working with Classical California KDFC and all our hosts and staff has been the dream of a lifetime. But now it’s time to take care of my health, hiking with Maizy, spending time with Fred and great and granddaughters, traveling, reading all the books that have piled up over the years, tending to my garden, and probably do a little volunteering on our local station. Many thanks for so many great years of music and camaraderie to everyone at Classical California KDFC.”
