Inner Banks Media contributed more than $77,000 to Pitt County’s Operation Santa Claus after its December radiothon. The two-day event collected funds to provide toys, gifts, and winter coats for children around Greenville, NC.
Operation Santa Claus, founded 36 years ago by Greenville Fire-Rescue, works with partners like the Salvation Army, Pitt County Schools, and local businesses to fulfill its mission. This year, donations assisted 614 families, up from 481 in 2023.
Inner Banks Media operates five radio stations in Eastern North Carolina: WTIB, WRHT, WNCT, WRHD, and WNBU.
Inner Banks Media President Henry Hinton told The Daily Reflector, “It’s been a huge success again thanks to the generosity of the community. I’m always amazed at how many people are willing to come out and donate, but it’s a great thing to be able to use our airwaves to help people at Christmas. It’s the best thing we do all year.”
Greenville Fire-Rescue Deputy Chief Jesse Harris added, “It’s all local, this isn’t anything going anywhere else. It could be the kid living next door who you don’t know what kind of a hard life they have. This could be a Christmas for him.”
Operation Santa Claus distributions were held on December 17.
