Paul Rasmussen To Return To KDKA After On-Air Health Scare

Pittsburgh’s KDKA Radio morning news anchor Paul Rasmussen is recovering after suffering multiple heart attacks during his Monday shift. He began feeling unwell while on the air and promptly sought medical attention at an emergency room.

Medical tests confirmed several “silent heart attacks,” which often lack the significant symptoms typically associated with heart attacks, such as chest pain or shortness of breath. These types of heart attacks can still block blood flow and cause damage to the heart muscle without the usual warning signs.

Rasmussen underwent additional tests on Tuesday and has an appointment with a specialist scheduled for Wednesday. The 17-year KDKA veteran has expressed his gratitude for the concern and well wishes from listeners and plans to return to the air soon. Before joining the newsroom, he worked in Jacksonville and New Orleans.

Rasmussen also emphasized the importance of awareness regarding heart attack symptoms.
