During this year’s Cares for Kids Toy Drive, Cenla Broadcasting showed its commitment to Central Louisiana with a record-breaking haul. The collective efforts of Cenla’s seven stations resulted in over a thousand toys and $3,000 in monetary donations. The drive, an annual event in Alexandria for more than two decades, saw unprecedented participation from local businesses and schools.

Cenla Broadcasting General Manager Chad Soprano said, “The success of this toy drive exceeded every hope and expectation we could have had. The incredible generosity from local businesses and our community is extremely inspiring and highlights the true spirit of Christmas.”

KZMZ Program Director Pat Cloud commented, “The Cenla Broadcasting Cares for Kids Toy Drive was born over 20 years ago but this year something magical happened! The community gave like never before! Businesses, Schools and everyone came together to make this the biggest toy drive ever! I’m so proud to live in Alexandria, Louisiana.”

KRRV Program Director Melissa Frost added, “In a time when everyone is dealing with the rising cost of food, gas, and pretty much everything, I personally went into our toy drive with the idea that anything we collected was better than nothing. I never in a MILLION years would have believed that this would be our biggest toy drive ever! We ended up collecting over 1,000 toys and right at $3,000 in monetary donations. Needless to say, our community stepped up in a big way and reminded us of the real meaning of the holidays!”

Thanks to Cenla’s addition, Radio Ink‘s 2023 Season of Giving Tally is up to $11.02 million. Help us show how radio matters to local communities! Submit your station’s good works to our Online Editor Cameron Coats between now and the end of the year.
