Preston and Steve at Beasley Media Group Philadelphia’s 93.3 WMMR completed their 26th Annual Camp Out For Hunger event, amassing 1.7 million pounds of food and over $948,732 in cash donations. The event, held from November 13-17, benefits Philabundance, a Delaware Valley hunger relief organization.

The week-long event saw WMMR’s morning duo camp out and broadcast live from Xfinity Live! in South Philadelphia, while encouraging listeners and businesses from the tri-state area to contribute food and monetary donations.

Numerous celebrities, athletes, and performers stopped by the radiothon, including TV personality Carson Kressley, Philadelphia Eagles’ D’Andre Swift & Boston Scott, Flyers GM Danny Brierre, comedian Big Jay Oakerson, Daughtry, John O’Hurley, and local TV anchors. WMMR’s Pierre Robert, Brent Porche, and Jacky Bam Bam also held additional live broadcasts.

WMMR Program Director Bill Weston expressed, “There’s not a single event that even comes close to this level of collaboration. Add to that the results of Camp Out for Hunger. The generosity of our listeners, clients, and sponsors is humbling. This was an amazing week of local, community-driven, and entertaining radio.”

Thanks to Preston, Steve, and WMMR, Radio Ink‘s latest 2023 Season of Giving Tally is $7.21 million. Help us show how radio matters to local communities! Submit your station’s good works to our Online Editor Cameron Coats between now and the end of the year.
