Saga Communications’ Capitol Radio Group held its 18th Annual “Cares for Kids” Radiothon on November 16 and 17. The pre-Thanksgiving charitable event by 101.9 The Wolf (WLFZ), 103.7 WDBR, and WTAX-AM, supports Springfield, IL’s St. John’s Children’s Hospital.
This year marked a significant achievement by raising $134,534.12, beating the previous year’s toal by $11,000 and bringing the radiothon’s cumulative total to $1.7 million raised for the hospital. The event featured air talent Blake Stadel, Dave Daniels, Dina Michaels, Joey McLaughlin, and Mikee Connolly, who shared touching stories from families who have benefitted from the hospital’s services.
Broadcasting live for two consecutive 12-hour days, the team’s efforts spanned from the studio to the hospital itself.
