The Boston radio community is coming to terms with the sudden loss of Kevin Karlson, a staple of morning radio at iHeartMedia’s 100.7 WZLX since 2005. The news of Karlson’s passing was first announced by WZLX on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday, October 27.

The station statement said, “For almost 20 years, Kevin helped wake up Boston with humor and classic rock. We invite you to share your memories of Kevin as we celebrate his life. If you have a memory you’d like to share please call us at 617-931-1007, we’d love to hear from you. From all of us at WZLX – Rock In Peace, Kevin.”

The station also paid tribute to Karlson on Instagram, inviting listeners to share their memories of the late host. WZLX staff members have confirmed that Karlson passed in his sleep, but the official cause of death has not yet been determined.

Before joining WZLX, Karlson, alongside co-hosts Pete McKenzie and Heather Ford, had been part of the morning show at WPDH in Poughkeepsie, NY. The trio moved to WZLX under previous ownership by Infinity Broadcasting and remained with the station after its control was transferred to iHeartMedia.
