The Library of American Broadcasting Foundation has released an on-demand webinar series focusing on the radio and podcasting industry. The LABF Radio & Podcast Power Session is a collaboration with Benztown President and LABF Board Member Dave “Chachi” Denes, the Broadcast Education Association, and the University of Maryland.

The three-part webinar playlist offers insights from industry leaders on a range of topics including programming, syndication, marketing, sales, branding, and more. Among the featured experts are Programming Consultant Mike McVay, Beasley Media Group Chief Revenue Officer Tina Murley, Emmis CEO Jeff Smulyan, and Spotify’s Head of Production for Podcasting Ron Shapiro.

In addition to current industry insights, the webinar series also includes historic broadcasting moments presented by the University of Maryland’s Mass Media & Culture/Special Collection Reference Specialist, Mike Henry.

“I was honored to lead the LABF Radio & Podcasting Power Session, and I want to thank the incredible talent and executives that participated for their contributions and presentations as well as Technical Producers, Robby Gessel and Trevor Adams,” said Chachi. “We have high hopes that this session will prove valuable to students and ignite their enthusiasm for the radio and podcasting mediums that hold a special place in our hearts.”

BEA Executive Director Heather Birks commentd, “This webinar series is an invaluable tool for educators to use in their classrooms and for students as they explore careers in the audio industry – specifically related to podcasting and radio. The series covers every single facet involved. Chachi’s leadership on this project is brilliant. In the next few weeks, we’re announcing details about an exciting live panel session that will take place at the 2024 BEA convention in Las Vegas this April.”

Library of American Broadcasting Foundation Co-Chairs Heidi Raphael and Jack Goodman said, “We are very grateful to LABF Board member Chachi Denes, the Benztown team and the incredible guest speakers who participated in this informative and realistic series that shines a light on what is going on in radio and podcasting today as well reflects on how we arrived here from a historical perspective. From teachers and students to anyone working in the audio industry today, there is something for everyone!”
