Shreveport, LA radio personality Charles Johnson, also known as Pastor CeJay on KOKA, has been inaugurated as the president of the National Association of Gospel Radio (NAGR). The ceremony took place in New Orleans over the first weekend of September.
NAGR serves as the sole trade association for professionals in the gospel music radio industry, including programmers, engineers, and announcers. Recent data shows that over 215 million people have tuned into Christian or gospel music in the past month, with 93% of African Americans, or over 38 million people, listening to gospel radio.
The mission of NAGR is to build upon these strong numbers by serving as a resource for industry professionals, to help expand listener bases, and to boost advertising revenue. With its new leadership, NAGR is well-positioned to continue its role as a significant player in the gospel radio industry.
“I’m honored to have the confidence of my radio colleagues to give me an opportunity to lead this association,” said Pastor CeJay. “In this role, I’ll work with and travel all over this country to help gospel radio professionals and artists achieve their goals; this role is life-changing, but I’m up for the task with God on my side.”
