Former cricketer Luke Sutton and former soccer player Fraser Franks have launched Understanding Men, a podcast aimed at encouraging men to engage in more challenging and vulnerable conversations. The series delves into the hosts’ personal experiences with addiction, alcoholism, and the pressures of the sporting world.

Since leaving their respective sports, both Sutton and Franks have been advocates for mental health and well-being. Sutton, who has openly discussed his struggles with depression and addiction, has also written about finding new purpose after a career in sports. Franks serves as a coach and an ambassador for Alcohol Change UK and recently underwent surgery for a heart condition that led to his early retirement.

Sutton emphasized, “There are still far too many conversations that men don’t have whether about body image, sex, money, status, fatherhood or just understanding what it is to be a man in the modern world. This podcast is going to tackle all of that with Fraser and I having the conversations other people want to have but don’t. I can’t wait to see where it goes. It’ll be fun, raw and brutally honest.”
