A longtime Hamptons station is celebrating its 60th anniversary. Established on August 13, 1963, by Fitzgerald Smith, oldies station WLNG has become a fixture of the Sag Harbor community.
Known for its 24/7 live talent, the station has been a platform for many personalities, most notably Program Director Paul Sidney, who joined in 1964. The station underwent ownership changes, with Robert King acquiring it in 1969 until his death in 2014. Since December 2018, it has been operated by Bark Out Loud Dogs Media, owned by Bill Evans and Sandra Foschi.
Under the new leadership, the station has seen significant changes, including doubling the number of on-air personalities and adding female voices. Both Evans and Foschi emphasize their commitment to preserving WLNG’s vintage style and community focus. The owners and on-air team, including veterans like Gary Sapiane, Bonnie Grice, and Chris Buckhout, marked the occasion with a celebration.
