Loudspeaker Public Media has launched The Riot, a new internet radio station dedicated to showcasing the music and stories of LGBTQIA+ artists. The commercial-free station features a diverse range of music genres including indie pop, rock, dance, and more. The Riot’s name pays tribute to the historic Stonewall Riots, which took place in 1969 and marked a significant milestone in the struggle for gay rights.
Loudspeaker is a non-profit, LGBTQIA-led, listener-supported public radio service and production studio with a mission on amplifying the voices, stories, and artistic expressions of underserved communities.
Loudspeaker Executive Producer and Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Charles Joseph Kelly said, “At a time when human rights for the LBGTQIA+ community are under
vicious assault, now more than ever we need to uplift their voices and stories, and The Riot
is the new platform to do just that.”
