Cumulus Media Dallas-Fort Worth’s New Country 96.3 (KSCS) partnered with Tango Charities to organize a series of events called “Hawkeye and Michelle Feed The City – Making Meals for People in Need.” Throughout the month of June, the initiative successfully created 22,659 meals for the hungry in the area.
Since May 31st, KSCS’ Hawkeye in the Morning has encouraged listeners to volunteer and contribute essential items such as bread, lunch meat, mustard, chips, tangerines, and ziplock bags to assemble meals for local food pantries. Those who signed up on the station’s website and participated in the volunteer events received two tickets to an exclusive Private Show with Dan + Shay, which could only be obtained through volunteering.
All meals created during these events were donated to local food pantries on the same day, and additional supplies were also contributed directly to the pantries.
Hawkeye in the Morning Co-Host Michelle Rodriguez said, “When we first started talking about this idea, we never imagined the impact it would have on everyone involved. We got to hear stories that have inspired entire families to get involved with our great partner Tango Charities for years to come. We were blown away by our listeners, an extension of our family. They showed up ready to help out those in need.”
Tango Charities Chief Hunger Officer Nick Marino Jr. commented, “I cannot express enough gratitude to our community and every volunteer who participated in our ‘Hawkeye & Michelle Feed The City’ initiative in partnership with New Country 96.3. The collective action has produced over 22,000 meals for children in need throughout North Texas. This is a significant milestone for Tango Charities and a testament to the transformative power of a unified effort. Reducing hunger, one meal at a time remains our unwavering mission, and each meal served is a step forward in this journey.”
