The unofficial start of summer continues to give radio a boost, especially with the added draw of Memorial Day sales. According to the latest update from Media Monitors for the week of May 22-28 the total spot play of the top five national advertisers on radio has increased to 242,293.
It was a great week for the return of home improvement advertisements in the warm weather. The Home Depot took the lead with 69,806 spots, surpassing Progressive which now holds the second position with 49,922 spots. Upside follows in third place with 43,443 ads, while ZipRecruiter ranks fourth with 41,243 spots. Babbel remains in the fifth position with 37,879 total commercials.
For further good news about home improvement’s return, finishing just outside the Top 5 at #6 is Lowe’s. The overall increase in spot play trend suggests continued advertising activity. Investment by top advertisers in the radio market could make up for a sluggish start to the year and help carry companies until political revenue arrives.
