Alpha Media launched a new superstation on Monday serving the Chicago suburbs. WXLC Star 102.3 is a combination of the old WXLC along with Star 96.7 (WSSR) and Star 105.5 (WZSR). The Star Superstation will cover the entire Chicago suburbs from the Wisconsin line to Indiana.
Programming is a mix of local programming and syndication. Middays will be split between the three signals with three separate personalities, while all other dayparts are unified. Commercial breaks can also be regionalized between towers.
Alpha Media Regional VP Brian Foster commented, “While maintaining our strong heritage on these brands, this new superstation will allow us to super-serve the Chicago suburbs in a way that is unique and fun. From our 2 PM Caffeine Kick show, to a morning show personality approach on both the drive to and from work, everything is geared towards a busy suburban mom and getting her through her day.”
