The Detroit Tigers radio team is drafting new talent for the 2023 season. Former Tiger outfielder Cameron Maybin is joining the broadcast squad for about thirty road games this year. The announcement was made via a tweet from the Tigers’ PR account. Audacy’s 97.1 The Ticket (WXYT) is the Tigers’ flagship.

Maybin joins longtime Detroit radio play-by-play man Dan Dickerson in the booth. The Tigers are recruiting away-game broadcasters to cover for Jim Price, who can’t travel due to health issues. Maybin called his first game on Sunday afternoon in a spring training matchup where the Tigers took on the Washington Nationals.

Maybin was a 2005 first-round draft pick for Detroit in 2005 and made his MLB debut for the 2007 season. He played for the Tigers, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, LA Angels, Houston Astros, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, and New York Mets during his 15-year career.
