Saga Communication’s Capitol Radio Group in Springfield, Illinois helped raise over $123,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network and St. John’s Children’s Hospital.

The stations that helped with the “Cares for Kids Radiothon” fundraising initiative included WDBR (103.7 FM), WLFZ (101.9 FM, The Wolf) and WTAX (1240 AM, 93.9 FM).

“Blake Stadel, Dave Daniels, Dina Michaels, Joey McLaughlin, and Mikee Connolly spent two days on the air telling amazing stories about the Children’s Hospital and the families that have benefitted from the annual fundraiser,” a spokesperson for the station group said on Monday. “All the money raised stays right here in Springfield…and each dollar goes to the hospital with no overhead”

WDBR and WLFZ simulcast for two days and combined staff efforts for Cares for Kids. The station group has raised over $1.7 million for the Children’s Miracle Network and the St. John’s Children’s Hospital over the last 18 years.

“This is an amazing annual fundraiser for such a great cause,” General Manager Chris Bullock said in a statement. “Our team works tirelessly to prepare and present a wonderful two days of local radio with local voices, local families, and local health care professionals. Thanks to our generous community, we are able to continue to post big numbers with Radiothon every year.”
