COVID canceled the Newport Jazz Festival this year, but 88.3 FM WBGO is bringing the festival to the air. Jazz Festival broadcast archives will be used to fill eight hours of programming on August 8 and 9.
Newport Jazz Revival Radio is an effort by the Newport Festivals Foundation and WBGO to give a virtual festival experience. The broadcasts are being curated from 65 years of recordings.
The broadcast will encompass eight hours of music from the Newport Jazz Festival archives, mostly presented as full sets, complete with stage banter.
