Humans and pets alike have faced food insecurity issues during COVID times. iHeartMedia Connecticut had success with a food bank drive in June and now has helped animal shelters in a similar way.
Pets, Masks & Music, collected 6,000 bags of dog and cat food, thousands of cans of dog and cat food, thousands of pet accessories; as well as over thousands of dollars in monetary donations, during the six hour event. The proceeds will be split between five participating organizations; and due to the overwhelming amount of items collected, additional pet rescue groups and animal charities were called to receive donations as well.
iHeart partnered with Live Nation Connecticut, The Oakdale Theater, Nexstar Broadcasting’s WTNH News 8 and K&S Distributors for the drive-thru event. A free face mask from K&S Distributors was given in exchange for a contribution.
