I Cried When I heard My Song on The Radio

That’s what country singer Cody Johnson tells The Boot in a feature called Fist Time Stories. Johnson’s story is one of so many from artists who know that when they hear their music on the radio (not Spotify or Pandora or SiriusXM) they’ve become stars.

Johnson tells The Boot he was 18 when Sean Ericson played a song of his on Kix 105, out of Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Texas. “And I cried. And the next time, I was with my buddy Jared Morris out of 101 Huntsville, and I was actually in the studio. I went in there and brought my CDs and was like, “Please play this. Please play this.”

The story did not say that Johnson wants radio to pay an additional tax to play his music. Nope, not in the interview.
