On Friday, December 13th,KPLZ-FM, KOMO-AM/FM and KVI-AM along with KOMO TV and KUNS held their annual Toy Drive to benefit the Salvation Army. The final tally was $125,000, including a $50,000 matching donation from the Wold Family Foundation, and over 7,000 toys.

The campaign collected toys and cash donations from the community at three Fred Meyer retail locations and at the station studios in Seattle. Listeners were also encouraged to donate online at the stations’ websites, or to call the phone bank at the studios. Station talent, advertisers, and volunteers manned the phones.

“The toy drive has been a nine-year tradition for our stations,” said Gary Greenberg, Station Manager of Sinclair Radio of Seattle. “Our team builds an amazing campaign every year, and our listeners continue to come out to support the Salvation Army in a big way – it’s what local radio is all about.”
