It didn’t take former Entercom Boston sports host Kirk Minihane long to get himself into trouble at his new job. Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone has filed a lawsuit against Minihane and Barstool Sports after Minihane recorded Curtatone for an interview claiming he was a reporter with the Boston Globe. Minihane recorded Curtatone after the Mayor refused to be interviewed for Barstool Sports.
A video of the interview was posted to the Barstool Sports website. Boston 25 interviewed Mayor Curtatone who said Minihane tricked him into doing the interview for his first podcast. “Minihane recorded himself breaking the law, impersonating a Boston Globe reporter to obtain an interview with me, then Barstool posted the interview on its website. It’s a clear violation of Massachusetts General Law, which forbids audio recording a person without his/her consent, and you can’t obtain that consent through fraudulent means.”
Minihane was consistently in the doghouse while working in radio at WEEI in Boston. That is until Entercom washed their hands of him last month.
