It was one year ago that iHeartMedia announced a new deal for KGB-FM San Diego morning man Bob Buchmann. Tuesday, a bewildered Buchmann told his listeners via Facebook that his job was eliminated and he was “in a lot of shock.”
In February of 2018, iHeartMedia San Diego Market President Melissa Forrest said, “Bob is a proven market performer and we look forward to many more years of top ratings in a very competitive San Diego market.”
Here’s Buchmann’s Facebook post from Tuesday: “I’d prefer you hear this from me first, as I’m a bit in shock. My position has been eliminated at iHeartMedia/San Diego as of today. I work for wonderful people who told me I did nothing wrong and everything right. Now in my 7th year, I was made KGB-FM Operations Director last August. In the Afternoon Drive Bob and Coe Show, the February Nielsens rank us #2 in the market. Come to think of it, I’m not a bit in shock, I’m a lot in shock! Thank you for being there for me day in and day out.”
Buchmann had about 700 comments on his Facebook post from listeners and friends in the industry by the time we went to press with this story.
