First Amendment Wins

This dates back to a story we first told you about in October of 2017. NCAA referee John Higgins filed a federal lawsuit against Kentucky Sports Radio accusing hosts Matt Jones and Drew Franklin of creating conditions that led to the harassment of his family after a game he called between Kentucky and North Carolina.

Back then KSR said it was a frivolous suit and this week the judge agreed, stating the hosts were protected by the first amendment.

North Carolina beat Kentucky in a 2017 Elite Eight game. Higgins was the ref. He claimed the hosts egged on the fans and he received death threats and his company’s Facebook page was bombarded with negative reviews.
