Radio Takes Center Stage at Podcast Movement

An entire track, specifically created for radio, will take place today thanks to the folks at Jacobs Media. Five sessions, panels, and keynotes will be part of day two in Anaheim, from 9am to 3pm, The topics will include: the role of podcasting for broadcasters, podcasting monetization and a showcase of radio’s best podcasters. Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs said, “Our company is focused on what’s next for radio, and podcasting clearly fits that definition. It presents an opportunity to take what radio does best – create compelling audio content – and continue the shift to digital distribution.”

Jacobs Media’s “Broadcasters Meet Podcasters” track includes:
“From The Corner Office:   How Radio Execs View Podcasting” – Moderated by Amplifi Media’s Steve Goldstein, the panel features Chris Peterson (iHeartMedia), Kelli Hurley (Westwood One), Jennifer Ferro (KCRW), and Reenita Malhotra Hora (Otto Radio). “Why Public Radio Excels At Podcasting” – Two keynote sessions presented by Dean Cappello (WNYC/New York Public Media) and Tamar Charney (NPR One).

“Radio’s Top Podcasters Share Their Secrets” – A gathering of some of radio’s best podcasters, the session is moderated by Erica Farber (RAB). The panel features Gregr (KNDD/Seattle), Mike Carruthers (“Something You Should Know”), Sheri Lynch (Bob & Sheri Show), and Matt Cundill (“Sound Off Podcast”).

“How Can Radio Broadcasters Monetize Podcasts?” – The session will be moderated by Bryan Moffett (National Public Media). The panel features John Rosso (Triton), Rob McCracken (E. W. Scripps), Sarah van Mosel (Market Enginuity), and Rob Walch (Libsyn).

“Podcast Makeover: A Live Aircheck Session With Broadcasting Pros” – Two podcasters will take the stage to have their work critiqued by a panel of experts. Moderated by Seth Resler, Jacobs Media’s Digital Dot Connector, the star judges include Mignon Fogarty (“Grammar Girl Podcast”), Tom Leykis (The Tom Leykis Show), and Richard Davies (Davies Content).
