Changes at Fox News Channel as Jack Abernethy — who in an earlier role spearheaded the launch of Fox News Radio — is named co-president of Fox News Channel, alongside Bill Shine, who moves into the co-president role from EVP. Both report to FNC Exec. Chairman Rupert Murdoch.

Abernethy and Shine will divide responsibilities for the network, while Abernethy, who continues to head up Fox Television Stations as CEO, oversees business for FNC and Fox Business Network. Shine will handle programming and news functions for FNC and FBN, including production and talent management, and will continue to lead strategic planning for election season and election night.

Murdoch said, “Jack was integral to the launch and success of Fox News nearly 20 years ago, and we’re delighted he’s returning to take on this additional role. As we continue to benefit from his strong leadership of Fox Television Stations, his strategic vision and deep knowledge of the cable news business will ensure continued growth of Fox News and Fox Business Network for generations to come.”

He added, “Bill Shine has developed and produced a signature primetime that has dominated the cable news landscape for 14 of his 20 years with Fox News. His leadership and keen eye for programming has played a fundamental role in the success of both Fox News and Fox Business Network.”

The changes in Fox leadership come after the departure of chairman/CEO Roger Ailes, who resigned amid allegations of sexual harassment by, among others, former Fox anchor Gretchen Carlson.
